I’m trying to create a texture effect like the image below on a surface and am running into a dead end on how to more accurately represent the cloth like material. The base material is a rubber and I am running a mesh texture through a displace node in the rubber geometry, and the mesh is also connected to the Diffuse of the plastic connected to the rubber. Overall it looks… ok? but not great. Anyone have thoughts on how to make this look better?? Texture example
Cloth Texture Effect on Surface
Your technique is great! It takes some work to get thing lined up. Attached is a KSP it uses real cloth for the fibers. It’s only a concept but it might help.
Cheers!
Don,
I tried implementing that cloth but am not quite getting the results I’m looking for. I think there could have been some confusion with my post, the image was not what I had created, but what I’m looking to replicate. What I have done so far is the image below
I’m trying to get those grey bits from the mesh to replicate the cloth texture weaving in and out of the base rubber texture.
I see, the link I looked at only showed a closeup the green colorway.
Have you tried using a label for the white stiches? Like layer the stiches on top of the rubber?
Absolutely not perfect but a different approach. Made some textures using illustrator/photoshop and combined them. Far from perfect but might help you a bit.
